New course available - Quality Improvement and the Educational Supervisor

Improving quality within the NHS is a high priority. Considerable time and resources are spent on quality improvement but these projects rarely include junior doctors. Junior doctors though, are at the forefront of service delivery and make decisions that have significant impact on patient outcomes. The London Deanery has established an innovative project to support trusts in engaging junior doctors in quality improvement initiatives. This will allow all doctors training in London to develop the leadership skills that they need to shape the healthcare service that they will inherit.

As part of this, the London Deanery is pleased to announce a new half day course 'Quality Improvement and the Educational Supervisor.' This half day course aims to help Educational Supervisors better support their trainees in undertaking quality improvement projects.

The aims of the course will be to:

  • familiarise Educational Supervisors with the Medical Leadership Competency Framework (MLCF)
  • provide an opportunity for Educational Supervisors to explore how they may support trainees in developing their leadership skills in the area of improving services and patient care
  • further the understanding of Educational Supervisors in quality improvement in the NHS and the role that clinicians can and should play
  • Further the understanding of educational supervisors about the role of junior doctor led audit and how this can fit within a quality improvement approach
  • Provide an opportunity for educational supervisors to learn from trainees who have undertaken quality improvement projects

There are three course dates currently scheduled. To find out when these will take place, please visit our online shop http://store.london.ac.uk/browse/product.asp?catid=2&modid=5&compid=2
