Essential Supervision Skills for Healthcare Professionals (one day workshop)

Course Description
This workshop offers 'hands-on' training in the essential conversational skills needed for good supervision. In particular it addresses the issue of how to balance confirmation with challenge when supervising everyone from high fliers to those in difficulty. The skills taught are helpful not just in clinical supervision but also in educational supervision, mentorship and training generally. Much of the workshop is based on participants' own working experiences. There will be skills practice with some live coaching in small groups. Please come expecting to talk in confidence about current cases, and dilemmas with patients, trainees, colleagues and teams. Please note that the workshop is not a comprehensive course in how to be a clinical or educational supervisor, but will equip you with essential conversational skills for those roles. The course is open to all healthcare professionals including doctors, dentists, nurses and all allied health professionals.
