Promoting interprofessional education and collaborative practice

The Multiprofessional Faculty Development Team, hosted by Health Education North West London facilitated a successful workshop on interprofessional education and collaborative practice on 17th March 2015.  The workshop brought together a wide range of health care educators in London to discuss the opportunities and challenges encountered in developing faculty to promote and embed interprofessional clinical education (IPE) in clinical practice.

The workshop was co-facilitated by Dr Sue Fergy, Clinical Lead for Multiprofessional Faculty Development and Professor Scott Reeves – Professor of interprofessional research at Kingston University and St.George’s, University of London. They developed and delivered an interactive format that encouraged and maximized participation by 45 professionals representing a diverse range of specialties drawn from healthcare and academic settings across the capital.

Across international and national healthcare landscapes, there is growing interest and momentum surrounding interprofessional education; in particular Health Education England has identified the increasing need to deliver healthcare in multi-disciplinary teams working in multi-skilled teams reflecting care pathways rather than exclusively professional groupings.

In light of the participants’ interest and enthusiasm further events will take place in the summer and autumn of 2015.  If you would like to placed on the mailing list for these events, please contact us at:
